Don't let these few days of summer go
Those sweet memories I know
Let's recapture her brilliant sunshine
Spontaneity so fine
Carefree days and longer mellifluous nights
Time to enjoy the longer halcyon nights
Sitting on a blanket listening to a park concert
The birds sing along and the fountain sings a song
Canoeing like pilgrim explorers on a mirror lake
Laughing like children we we gave up our reserve
The magic of summer frolic we did serve
Our energy bursting we are once again young and gay
We antiqued and read books by the light of the day
By night the stars came out like diamonds
So I ask you "Why must summer end? Why?
