ADIEU TO MAY 2020 By Polly Guerin

The very merry, merry month of May
A pleasant time for she was glity-gay

With daffodils in her shimmering hair
The earth was greener, greener fair

Cherry Blossoms burst forth in pink
Bird choruses were another link

Muguet, with love carried on the air
Remembering our heroes, only fair

And the mornings, full of sunrise scents
Granted safe harbor, from the virus sent

Mother's Day gave way to pause, celebrate
All women who nurture, a gift, at any rate

The perfect tonic for pandemic isolation
Love carried on the breeze for every nation

We saluted our heroes, land and sea for sure
And all the heroes, on board, to find a cure

And as new flowers bud, new seeds are sown
Into the fabric of our lives, we are reborn

Then a new normal recasts our lives anew
With patients, a new outlook is in the view

May steps aside for the arrival of June
Summertime views fill our heats in bloom.
