Life's trials and tribulations like a burning candle
Brings us joys and deep felt heartache we can handle

It flickers when the foul wind blows
Ushering the unexpected, who knows

Despite the unexpected vicissitudes of life
Keep the candle burning despite the strife

Dark moments fade in the candle's glowing flame
Sunshine beams and dispels the gripping pain

Its colorful flame lights up new found courage
Accept life's challenges, light up, do not judge

Instead of sitting stagnant on a lonesome shelf
It's a chance to reacquaint, to reinvent yourself

Rejuvenated, flare up, ignite with new found scope
Life gives us the marvelous gift of new found hope

So keep the flame of life forever burning bright
Say your prayers and then with peace 'good night.'

ADIEU TO JUNE 2020: By Polly Guerin

June warmed up slowly like a petulant child
Her days were humid and sunshine mild

She celebrated summer's gentle awakening
With dreams of  picnics and beach relating

Yet isolation was still the virus' official order
We kept masks and distance on the border

We zoomed, here, we zoomed everywhere
Our hearts were lonely, so we shared

Father's Day paid homage to honor men
A special PRIDE month was on the mend

Justice without prejudice in the nation
Juneteenth emerged for emancipation

And they marched nationwide to protest
New York was put through the outcry test

The solstice made summer shout out loud
We wore summer shorts in distance crowd

The promise of the dawning of a new day
Made us wish June's troubles would go away

For everything good will happen July to August
With sunshine's golden glow let's join the chorus.

I Believe you don't have to be number one
Believe, because you still have won

I Believe you can let your hair down
Believe, laugh and stifle a frown

I Believe you're more perfect than most
Believe, forget, let yourself boast

I Believe you can think 'Out of the Box'
Believe, hidden treasures unlock

I Believe let's be grateful each day
Believe, don't look back, but away

I Believe we can make every minute count
Believe, don't hesitate to surmount

I Believe there's opportunity awaiting
Believe, count blessings escalating

I Believe that honor will persevere
Believe every moment of the year

I Believe in life's happy endings
Believe cancel hurts and offendings

I Believe it's time to start a new chapter
Believe, start something new happy after

I Believe say 'Yes' sample something new
Believe because dreams do come true!

Let life sparkle like the finest cut gem
With angles, twists and turns to the end

For when it is over let's not ever regret
The promise of fulfillment is in you yet

Let's reinvent ourselves on another plane
Never be stagnant refuse to be the same

Don't let your previous dreams abort
Be not defeated, you're not that sort

Polish each chiseled facet with love
Thank the precious angels from above

Be glad for when the dark days are gone
Raise up your heart with joyous song

Everything you wanted did not go wrong
Postponed perhaps where it did belong

Every heart has its pain, it sorrow
Remember take pride, there is tomorrow

Different facet cuts tell us life's story
The sweetest moments in all their glory

Even through great courage we sustain
Sparkle and smile there's more to gain

For life like a diamond endures forever
Nothing can break you, you're very clever.

Let's not turn back to sorrow
Go forward instead to tomorrow

Leave off old hurts and regrets
They rob us of strength to reset

Thoughts on the future not the past
Where, anger, disappointment last

Remember to leave the past behind
Give yourself wisdom, be so kind

Instead of moping about lost love
Seek wisdom from the stars above

Set your sights on a new tomorrow
Create life, far better without sorrow

Don't look back on false hoes and fear
Focus on the bright lights that's very near

With this awakening there is new hope
Makes it easier to joyously live, to cope

Consuming thoughts paralyze our life
Let it go, dismiss hurts, let go of strife''

Disappointment can bond us to the past
Don't regret, remember, dissolve it fast

Begin a new circle, live life full blast
Move into a better future at last!
