ADIEU TO MARCH 2021: By Polly Guerin

March came in with a snowy blast
But Soring was stepping up at last

As solemn as the month may seem
A one year anniversary from Covid-19

We're in a brighter, lighter, happier mood
With wind in the grass whisperings soothe

Unwelcome flooding a sudden rainstorm
Gave birth to myriad flowers on the lawn

A time of renewal with open air dining
With protocols in place and reminding

Be cautious and patient while unwinding
We have come so far in this race providing

March 19 officially announced Spring
Even the city sparrows began to sing

People felt giddy with abandon relief
With daylight savings time hour release

Welcome new season of health and renewal
April steps in with blue skies ever truer.

FLOWER POWER By Polly Guerin

Life can be soft as a rosebud petal
Or thorny like a snappy brittle metal

The aromatic scent makes us smile
Dreaming of better days for awhile

But its thorns prick us to remember
Our pandemic year we did surrender

Yet, each delicate petal has a story
Of flower power in all its glory

Keeping us focused on positive vibes
Congratulate yourself you did survive

Like a kiss planted by a baby's  lips
Petal by petal we cannot resist

To remember that Spring is its way
With flower power we're here to stay

Each day is a symbolic petal change
Cope with the thorny rose to rearrange

A new window into the promising future
Just think petal by petal to nurture

The sweet scent of the thorny rose
Create a new mantra while you compose.

INNER BEAUTY: By Polly Guerin

Inner beauty's mantra far outlasts
It's silent message does not blast

But radiates with good intentions
Affirms with wisdom, and did I mention

The more we focus on inner beauty
Genuine peace and balance is out duty

With genuine words of praise confirming
Elevate those in need without a sermon

Lift up those from sadness, or recent loss
Gently stroke their story without force

And stir up feelings of renewed pride
Never let ambition or happiness slide

Encourage strength and inner glow
With life confirming words "I go"

About the day with hearts on fire
An inspiring truth is what I desire

Responding eagerly to positive sound
The world is made better all around.

SAVOR THE MOMENT: By Polly Guerin

Must we be so discontented?
By technology we are offended

At lunch or dinner there's no excuse
You say it's important that's the ruse

You're simply not fully in the present moment
To savor every minute with sincere component

Add to the pleasure of communicating
Connected,  One to One, at any rating

Let  others feel  valued, let then be heard
 Share understanding with heartfelt reserve

Multitasking has its place and time
Always doing it is a pitiful crime

Promise yourself to savor each stroke
Of the tick tock clock minute of note

Gently bring yourself back to the moment
Be mindful, recharge, connect with life.
