ADIEU TO APRIL 2020 By Polly Guerin

Claude Monet's Garden

As we settle down in our at-home cave
A surreal kind of April was on the page

Yet hopelessly in love with lovely spring
The earth burst forth with flower bling

In every odour and in a rainbow hue
They carpeted the garden, so you knew

That spring was knocking at your door
Brought promise of love as never before

April reminds us, remember joys of spring
When creativity can reshape and bring

The air made clearer, purer to breath
We wore our masks for safety, to please

The sky seemed true blue, even bluer
Brooks burst forth, cleaner,  truer

I looked up late one night at the velvet sky
And saw, first time, two stars twinkling by

The city sparrow chirpd a cheerful chatter
Alone in quarantine I felt it really matter

Easter bunnies took a vacaion this month
Other holidays were closeted and sunk

The chilly weather was unlike sweet April
Rain and sunshine vied for the weather cable

Cozying up and speak to family and freinds
We re-started like solo birds in the end

And even though the rain thundered down
Sweet May was waiting to come around.

Adieu to April, a month I will never forget
As May steps timidly into the net.

METAMORPHOSIS By Polly Guerin

Painting by Ha Phan

Imagine a rare bird in a gilded cage
We remain confined with silent rage

Cabin fever takes its toll in spurts
Then soldiering on is the new alert

Fraying nerves set the heart on fire
In a lock down city weary of  desire

Let's shed our shell of discontent
By metamorphosis is what I meant

Like a cocoon that becomes a butterfly
Why nor morph yourself and try

To remove any layers of deep sadness
And renew yourself with new gladness

Your inner wisdom is the main  source
Chose colorful patterns to reinforce

Lifelong learning is an added plus
Do it now---In yourself do trust

Look for life lessons to improve
Put yourself in a brand new grove

Release limits shine with an inner glow
Your positive presence everyone will know

Claim a clean slate and spread your wings
Uncover your true self and the joy it brings

When we emerge from this virus stage
Morph yourself for the "all clear" age.

WONDER WORDS By Polly Guerin

The power of words can be soft as a prayer
To Show your are concerned, that you care

Wonder words sound like a baby's smile
Innocent and protected for a little while

Words well chosen are like nuggets of gold
Enriching, restoring as the story is told

The right words can change a person's life
Or cut them down to size with an edit knife

Tarnished words lack dignity and truth
Too often used by unspeakable youth

Good conversation is becoming so rare
With pointless obsession we cannot bare

The manipulative power of words change
The monotony of everyday to rearrange

Our life's adventure of the spoken word
Encourage and support, let it be heard

Wonder words lead us out of a panic world
Where fond memories are forever unfurled

Keep focused on precious human traits
Keep talking, talking before it is too late.

DAYDREAMING By Polly Guerin

Before the gentle windswept dunes
The silent sentinels sit marooned

Yonder sailboats drift out to sea
With multi-colored sails I see

Red and Blues dot the vista
Brilliant colors in the placid sea

Gliding across the waves of time
Defined by nature, the view sublime

It's tranquil time for the smallest dreams
I review the daydream list or so its seems

That the exquisite serenity, a quiet release
Gives time to ponder, time for peace

A dragon fly is the keeper if dreams
Lets imagination soar, or so it seems

It stills the mind to review and contemplate
Ideas take fight, brand new, at any rate

In this escape from a plugged in world
Daydreaming encouraged, ideas unfurled

Releasing dormant creativity once submerged
Savor precious time till you have the urge

To create in silent solitude all alone
To daydream, and find your muse reborn

Let Daydreams work into fact your fondest dreams!

SPRING AWAKENING 2020 By Polly Guerin

Spring Season Painting By Nadia Sanowar

The mellifluous breeze caresses the firmament
While soft waves of baby's breath fills the scented air

I need only to turn to nature to encounter the rich
Bounty, flowers and plants that blossom, the sun shines

The trees awake, buds struggle to give birth and the
Dear Sparrow's song regenerates the silent earth

The spring awakening burts with exhuberance
Pirouetting in a choreographed rhythmic dance

Like ballerinas the tress bow their heads and sway
Yearning to capture the sun's warming rays

The baton of the breeae signals the chorus to sing
And a field of wild flowers begins to prance with bling

The forest symphony joins in and sings from its roots
Snaps, crackles chipmonks gather twigs underfoot

King Bluebirds arrive, bolder they take up court
In territory other less powerful birds sought

The creatures of spring, new life, arise from sleep,
Chirping, hungry fledglings emerge and been to peep

And the world, rejuvenated by the sun renews
Refreshing earth's vistas with new found views

On nature's velvet green carpet we are invited to sit
Welcome to Spring awakening, our profound gift.
