ADIEU TO DECEMBER 2020 By Polly Guerin

The last month of this pandemic year
Brought us multiple gifts to banish fear

Through quarantine came space to grow
Develop talents you did not ever know

Realizing new skills in leisure time
chance to grow and stretch your mind

You've become wiser with the gift of insight
Recaptured with your gift of inner light

Pospered on with all that has come your way
You've released old thoughts to enjoy each day

Rejoice in the fact that you are covid-free
A healthy outlook welcomes you and me

With a grateful heart move in a new direction
Move forward on an upbeat path to perfection

And a lighter heart release pangs of loneliness
Introduce the new you grateful greeter to the test

Be  thankful for the year-long pandemic time
Gave you opportunity to reve up your prime

Releasing any pain or financial set back
With your healthy outlook you have no lack

Of renewed ambition  to get you back on track
Unburden yourself and guarantee some slack

Feeling lighter, you're ready, eager for the next year
With positive anticipation Adieu to December, my dear

It's the most wonderful time of the year
We survived the pandemic, my dear

So let's lift our voices voom Singing
Let the Christmas bells be ringing

With Jinggle Bells and jolly good fun
Joyfully dance around old tanenbaum

Send Christmas cards before the date
Remember everyone before its too late

Feel the love and all that this day brings
Share the true gift of Christmas blings

Joy to the world and peace on earth
The light of this silent night and birth

Reminds us to tell the Christmas story
The divine light shines in all its glory

Read "The Night before Christas" by Moore
Tuck children into there cozy beds  before

Christtas Day awakens our thankful hearts
Read Dicken's "Christmas Carol" and start

To  enjoy  life's gift of those simpler treasures
Share the wealth of the season beyond measure

Wilth upbeat expectations greet the holiday
Be joyful. grateful to be here, I sincerely pray

Glad tidings to all, have health and good cheer
Because "It's the most wonderful time of the year!"

FICKLE FROST:By Polly Gueri

Must the frost of winter come so soon?
Autumn left behind had lost its bloom

Now  winter snaps her fickle frigid finger
We quarantine at home we do not linger

Ensconced in the cocoon warmth of our abode
We curl up in cozy fleeces to beat the cold

While delicate snowflakes like winter lace
Dance on my windowpane with unique grace

Each snowflake are marvel of divine design
Their fleeting frosty greeting a gift so fine

And confined here by the bitter fickle frost
Alas what care I, if at times I get lost

In winter's lounging, longing nights
Seeking silent sentiment until the light

When daybreak casts its golden hue
Over the mysterious brooding brew

And awakens our solemn silent slumber
A new day breaks in with wakeful wonder.

MULTIPLE BLESSINGS: By Polly Guerin

Unexpected bumps may detour
But life is never dull or a bore

Why fret, relax enjoy the ride
Let go of worry and hide

Pull off the worn beaten path
Live life fully and be glad

Accept whatever life brings
Be joyful like the eternal soring

Replace negative thought for good
Expect the best, it's understood

Even when difficulties encounter
Make ageless wisdom your mantra

Let blessing multiply in the good
Keeping harmony is understood

I wonder how to prolong the day
To find some time to pause and pray

May resilience reve up your heart
Meet every challenge and now start

Embrace multiple blessings now!

ABUNDANCE: By Polly Guerin

One's worth should not ever be measured
It's your abundant life vow now to treasure

Keep watch on unexpected blessing flowing
Set in motion, practice  generosity knowing

Your finances are not your total worth
It's the good deeds you're doing on earth

With plenty to share be kind, play it forward
Support others, encouragement is their reward

Practice generosity with a listening heart
Improve someone's life before they depart

Your prosperity overflows from generous acts
Give and receive blessings these are the facts

Your abundant wisdom will never wear out
Your generous heart is what you're about

The more you give, a granted return is the test
A knowing helper, like you, granted  the best

Because you're far richer than ever before
Making life bearable for others evens the score

Share gifts of love with family and friends
Adds up your abundant tally in the end.

INSPIRE: By Polly Guerin

On the wings of  this new Covid morning
I lift up my inspired heart now soaring

To greater heights of newfound compassion
Joy to the world with love is my passion

Releasing doubt and unfound fear
A new life emerges that is very clear

Spreading kindness, empathy and love
Inspired by Scriptures from up above

I will speak words of world peace
I celebrate openness and release

imprint your generous mark today
Open your heart to a bright new ray

Of sunshine spreading everywhere
Do it with loving, thoughtful care

Make time of others and yourself
Put past grievances on the shelf

Words that soothe a wounded heart
Do it now before you leave and depart

Share your talent  and treasures, too
Time gives the opportunity to renew

Bring sunshine to brighten someone's day
With kindness and generosity don't delay

Send gifts of inspiration to family and friends
Increases your happiness quotient in the end.

ADIEU TO OCTOBER 2020: By Polly Guerin

October's crisp breeze announced fall
Life began anew with no time to stall

The trees were dressed in Autumn splendor
Yellow saffron, ginger cream I remember

With the gentle chill and the crisp forlorn leaves
Then sweet golden kisses were all over the trees

The birds returned to take a backward glance
To marvel at nature's glory in striking balance

Leaves carpeting the woodland's open door
Led to fun adventures in the great outdoor

Apple picking in the orchard on a farm
Made apple cider libations mild and calm

Columbus Day brought poignant pause to reflect
To remember heroes who reside in forever rest

All Hallows Eve was a magical velvet night
Scary costumes made us flinch with fright

Then a whipping wind took October away
Quite frankly I am rather sad she did not stay

Alas we must turn back the clock, comes the blast
This sad that the sweet autumn days could not last

October left abruptly, didn't linger, I wonder why
I could not hold onto October, no matter how I try.

AUTUMN SPLENDOR in the TREES: By Polly Guerin

Stillness settles o'er the earth
The trees are sleeping before rebirth

Just yesterday they wore golden hair
Their crimson garb with sunlit flair

Their starring role, awesome and serene
The tall oaks in their last days of green

Maroon dogwoods and pink hydrangeas
Tall oaks tower over gapping strangers

Over the valley aflame with poplars
The landscape quiet under the stars

Autumn colors set the world aglow
Now shed their fiery leaves below

Toasty yellows carpet my garden path
Must the chill of winter come so fast?

As the trees take their autumnal bow
Katsura's burnt sugary smells a wow

Like the crisp topping on Creme Brulee
It fills the air with tempting spray

The Maples have poured out their heart
Liquid gold, deep amber from the start.

Evergreens punctuate the scene so fine
Emerald and dark green, needles and pine

Come and revel in fall's color glory
Nature tells such a brilliant story.

AUTUMN IN NEW YORK: By Polly Guerin

The Trees are singing a song
Then autumn leaves came along

A cacophony of painterly art
Before the winter had its start

Everything bursts with color
Admire the view like no other

Leaves dressed in crimson red
Brushed with gilt beams instead

 A rich amber translucent glow
A blaze, it nearly stole the show

Then underneath, the last dance
The squirrels seemed in a trance

Burying nuts beneath the earth
Marking their place to search

The glorious, golden autumn days
Treasure them, before they phase

Nature's grand finale is closing in
Savor the moments and begin

For too soon, it's a winter's tale
Comes round so swift with the pale.

AUTUMN LEAVES/CHANGING LIVES: By Polly Guerin

The countryside is ablaze with autumn leaves
Red, russet, burnt sienna before the freeze

They burst forth shedding their verdant glory
Renewing life, it's like a newborn's story

Gold leafed splendor by the painterly brush
The colors are life changing, rich and lush\

It's time for you to make changes, too
Throw off the old mundane cloak, renew

With crimson red for enthusiasm as trigger
Embrace the passion with new found vigor

Vibrant yellow for courage and laughter
It's a new outlook you should be after

The angelic blue sky ever true and serene
Exudes cool confidence,  fosters dreams

Golden orange is ablaze, warm this year
With your outgoing nature, that's clear

It's not quite winter, lush green remains
A preferred color of genius, never the same

And pink-tined forest buds remind us
Romance is ever charged with love

A new season, a new life changing time
Take a cue from autumn leaves prime

Change your colors and your attitude
Don't get stuck in the gray latitude

Move into a colorful spectrum, begin today
Open up with autumn leaves' color display.

ADIEU TO SEPTEMBER 2020 By Polly Guerin

I can't bear to see halcyon summer go
Summertime slipped away that we know

Summer cast off her welcome mat
And September arrived with a spat

Alas glorious weather swept in on cue
Autumn's favorite time of year we knew

Fall's Equinox, called the first day of autumn
September's luscious bounty was not forgotten

Apple picking excursions to orchards upstate
The pungent air tasted like apple peel of late

New hybrid teaching sent kids back to school
Half time home/viral study was the golden rule

Museums opened with masks and distance cues
Cultural seekers had faith in restoring renewed

Sacred  holidays, brought pause to pray to revere
We venture forward all masked, for a better year

The gold of autumn brings the gentle chill of fall
With verdant meadows and bird song most of all

In color display trees perform their foliage dance
And the forest sings of Indian Summer romance

Yet, the month flew by on the wings of autumn's wind
Leaving us wondering why October must so soon begin

I do very much mind saying goodbye to September
Knowing I cannot hold back the time I do surrender.

THE RIVER OF LIFE: By Polly Guerin

Like a rambling brook flows the river of life
Foretells a familiar story of love, even  strife

It babbles on high pitched with nature's song
Your life is never static, it rambles on beyond

Like life the brook takes unexpected detours
Be resilient, break away never a solitary bore

The path to your destination may seem erratic
Step over the bridge, hear the brook's reactic

The babbling brook keeps running on and on
Do not give up so easily, go where you belong

The brimming river represents the course of life
Take the positive message, and save your life

The joy may come and joy may go, and it will
Let the river of life pause, restart up the hill

Do not carry the heavy burden of a virus life
Free yourself for the future, have a new life

A fresh, clean start surges in the babbling brook
Find solace in the sanctuary of a private nook

The brimming brook overflows with wild attraction
Get into shape, live the life you love with reaction

Cause the river of life overcomes any negative thought
Releases You to freely pursue what you have wrought.

LIFE'S CANVAS By Polly Guerin

Life is like a painter's palette

Vibrant, subtle, or bold with talent

Each color represents life's canvas

Good  reality vibes to understand us

Red represents the vitality of a rich life

Some ups and downs, unexpected strife

Sunshine Yellow is a happy snappy color

Brings happiness, a smile like no other

Nature's Green bounty heals with compassion

Goes deep into our hearts with positive reaction

The spirit of celestial blue inspires us all

Look up to the sky for answers this fall

Red and Yellow fill Orange full of joy

Promotes appetite for every girl and boy

The more you nurture the palette of life

See how pandemic worries seem light

The positive colors overtake moody gloom

Time to repaint yourself, even a room

These color gifts renew the palette of life

A rainbow of optimism dispels the strife

Spread painterly colors for others to share

Unite the world with compassionate care.

BITTERSWEET RELFECTIONS By Polly Guerin

Life can be bitter and sweet at the same time

Like the woody vine the purple flowers climb

With its invading,  prolific and poisonous system

Resembles weapons of judgment and criticism

It does its worst in a blaze of autumn glory

Like life's complaints, it's the same old story

It's thick leafy vines overtake trees and shrubs

Even grasses eventually succumb to its rubs

Smothering other participants like the leafy vine

You, too, may over compete, take over in time

Don't let tempers flare up under any phase

In a few weeks the woods will be ablaze

Producing a mixture of pain and pleasure

Bittersweet resembles Life in every measure

Yet its perennial beauty makes a pretty wreath

Instead it is peace and harmony we seek

Take a new path, adopt a fresh perspective

Don't let clinging vines control your leisure

Every bittersweet memory brings a treasure

Discards bittersweet pain and renews pleasure.

BABY STEIPS By Polly Guerin

Now is the time to get started

Don't delay and be downhearted

Take baby steps forward to learn

Naysayers not be your concern

Every disappointment is a gift

Now doors open don't resist

Rise up and claim your place

Be a winner in the race

Dream on and make it YOU

Put FIRE in everything you do

Don't let anyone talk you down

Turn their attitude around

Take baby steps with new found hope

Be brave, know what it takes to cope

It's not to late, even for someone like You

Your enthusiasm makes it all come true.

ADIEU to AUGUST 2020

Don't tet these halcyon days of summer go
Those sweet lingering memories I know

Let's re-capture her brilliant sunshine
Spontaneity, child-like laughter so fine

Carefree days with mellifluous nights
Time to enjoy each wonderful sight

Leisurely languid days and playful pursuits
Returning to family, re-discovering our roots
Dreaming of canoeing on a mirror lake
Not a worry nor care we're having a break

Apple pie scents wafted through the beach air
Remember we came from a swim without a care

Laughing with joy we gave up our reserve
To the magic of summer's frolic we did serve

Our energy bursting we were young and gay
We read travel books by the light of the day

By night the stars came out like diamonds in the sky
So I ask you, WHY MUST SUMMER END, WHY?

SIMPLE GRACE By Polly Guerin

Let us bring grace into our daily lives                                                                                                        Like birds on the wing let us survive

And fly away on the wings of grace                                                                                                              And return to the pristine happy place

Grace is so subtle we may not be aware                                                                                                        But its always there if you really care

To recognize the hidden message sent                                                                                                          Each day there's a gentle hint that's meant

You may find grace in the smile of a stranger                                                                                               Open up grace in your heart, be the arranger

Say a kind, comforting and uplifting word                                                                                                  Say it often, loud and clear, so it can be heard

And comfort everyday folk  with special need                                                                                               Open up the grace in your heart to succeed

Grace comes to us like a gentle flowing stream                                                                                          Sometimes it enters in the night in our dreams

Grace brings new directions and purpose                                                                                                    Filling your mind with new found surface

Just recognize grace ,and watch the change                                                                                              Your spirit uplifted, you'll never be the same

A new you emerges from the fledgling start                                                                                                Press forward with all your grateful heart.

THE SONG OF LIFE: By Polly Guerin

The violin sings tales of sadness                                                                                                                Of forgotten dreams and gladness

The piano strikes up a different tune                                                                                                            A giddy pizzicato fills the room

Together they play the lyric life                                                                                                              Young and foolish and strife

Life is a dualistic serenade                                                                                                                      Memories linger do not fade

But there is joy, pick up the beat                                                                                                                Be resolute do not admit defeat

Life is short, ends too soon                                                                                                                            Sing and play a happy tune

Contribute to the song of life                                                                                                                        Tender words and sound advice

Dream the dream you were born to live                                                                                            Banish sad memories and forgive

From deep in your heart open up                                                                                                   Accepting unfolding joy is the rub

Listen more patiently, and wait                                                                                                                    For answers coming at any rate

Bringing resolution on a new note                                                                                                            Play out the melody you wrote

Surrender to what now is asked                                                                                                                    Sing the Song of Life and be glad.

SAILING THROUGH: By Polly Guerin

Let's navigate through rough waters

Set sail, leave uncharted quarters

Don't anchor your dreams in dry dock

Let loose the shoring and unblock

Your boat of inspirations set sail

Way beyond the horizon and the pale

Hoist the sails, let the boat free

Let it glide into the shimmering sea

As each way splashes on the deck

Remind yourself, you're not a wreck

Just sailing through some rough times

To reach the shore more sublime

Raised up in this exalted state

Put a positive spin on your fate.

Adieu to July 2020

July, the Crown of Summer with pomp arrived
Sent unrelenting heat. Yet, we did survive

The month turned into a hot plate griddle
And the days just lay there and sizzled

A deluge of rain and thunder lightening
Sent drenching flooding, rather frightening

Then July's golden complexion cast a shine
On languid halcyon days in the summertime

The month brought relief and cooling showers
Watermelon, strawberries and gilly flowers

The Declaration of Independence read aloud
Celebrated July 4th, and we were very proud

Let us remember those who served in the past
Their sacrifice, not forgotten, their memory last

While fireworks burst before us in magical design
A virtual showcase on Youtube was all l could find

Then the New Moon swept over the clear, cool sky
With a message for zodiacs, sending a positive reply

Sultry days lingered and dewy nights and so it seems
Gives us pause to linger and ponder, sort our dreams

And sleep the sleep of dreams we wish come true
Live in the sunshine swim far away and  renew

Drink in the wild sea air and lose yourself
Leave worries behind, store them on a shelf

With July at the top of the livelong year
Gather sweet memories, so close, so dear

For there will be eternal summer in August

CHILDLIKE WONDER: By Polly Guerin

Looking at art with childlike wonder
I search for distant lands and ponder

Can I become the inventor of dreams?
The creator of unlimited schemes

Who makes the world a better place?
Accepting the beauty in every race

The spacious generosity of ART
Transforms the view from the start

Keep that childlike sense of 'AWE'
A sensitive heart before you draw

Choose divine inspired ideas to unify
Hear the heartbreak, a child's cry

Reach out with your expansive arms
Embrace the downtrodden in alarm

Prepare for a new way of thinking
Even though your heart is blinking

Find infinite solace in the art of being
Faithful, caring, sensitive, seeking

Widen your vision and release doubt
Awake now to childlike vision proud.

DAY OF ENCHANTMENT: By Polly Guerin

Our hearts are full of wonder
Our dreams leave us to ponder

To create the life you want to enfold
Envision it now and picture our goal

Accept the results with jubilation
Prepare to accept congratulations

Keep faithful watch on your success
Know it is just a matter to manifest

Now is the only time there is
Seize the present moment, live!

Be enchanted, greet each day
Thankful we are and pray

Now is the time to liberate the past
Let the radiant light of love be cast

See everything in a new bright glow
Be enchanted turn on a light show

And conjure up spellbinding magic
Enjoy the now and be ecstatic

Practice joy, sing life's praises
And renew yourself in all its stages.

A SONG IN MY HEART: By Polly Guerin

Rejoicing I sing a song each day
Hoping the feeling will not go away

But be my life melody, set me free
A glad-hearted chorister I'd be

Raising voices resound in gratitude
With songs of high-powered latitude

I celebrate the glory of life's rhythm
My heart beats in tandem noted given

Lofty voices spread harmony everywhere
I choose lilting songs with loving care

Spreading a global symphony of peace
Bringing the world comfort and release

Celebrating life lift up your joyful voice
Be harmonious glad keepers and rejoice.

INTO THE SILENCE By Polly Guerin

Take time to refresh, replenish
Seek the void to relinquish

All the stress a day imparts
Dust it off and now restart

Regain composure, be content
Luxuriate in private time spent

Recharging your commonsense
A wonderful way to reinvent

Your dreams, reality and goals
Find yourself as the day enfolds

Still, the silence is so serene
Here find refuge from the scene

Protected in some secret place
Settle down out of the race

And find solace in quietude
Escape from society, if rude

Encounters sadden your heart
Even before the day has start

Dwell on reasons to be content
With private time pleasantly spent.

CANDLE WISDOM: By Polly Guerin

Life's trials and tribulations like a burning candle
Brings us joys and deep felt heartache we can handle

It flickers when the foul wind blows
Ushering the unexpected, who knows

Despite the unexpected vicissitudes of life
Keep the candle burning despite the strife

Dark moments fade in the candle's glowing flame
Sunshine beams and dispels the gripping pain

Its colorful flame lights up new found courage
Accept life's challenges, light up, do not judge

Instead of sitting stagnant on a lonesome shelf
It's a chance to reacquaint, to reinvent yourself

Rejuvenated, flare up, ignite with new found scope
Life gives us the marvelous gift of new found hope

So keep the flame of life forever burning bright
Say your prayers and then with peace 'good night.'
