AUTUM IN NEW YORK BY POLLY GUERIN

The trees are singing a song

 Then autumn leaves came along

Leaves dressed in crimson red

Brushed with gilt beams instead

The glorious golden autumn days

Treasure them before they phase

Nature's grand finale is closing in

Savor the moments and begin

For too soon it is winter's tale

Comes round so swift with the pale.

Goodbye August 2021

Don't let these few days of summer go

Those sweet memories I know

Let's recapture her brilliant sunshine

 Spontaneity so fine

Carefree days and longer  mellifluous nights

Time to enjoy the longer halcyon nights

Sitting on a blanket listening to a park concert

The birds sing along and the fountain sings a song

Canoeing like pilgrim explorers on a mirror lake

Laughing like children we we gave up our reserve

The magic of summer frolic we did serve

Our energy bursting we are once again young and gay

We antiqued and read books by the light of the day

By night the stars came out like diamonds

So I ask you "Why must summer end? Why?

EMBRACE By Polly Guerin

To be embraced is a loving touch

It says I love you very much

It's closeness restores our heart

Do it now before the day starts

A child's embrace is like a prayer

It sends miles of love and tender care

The embrace of life is now so rare

But it's greeting says you care

Repeat your intent to regain love

And ask the angels to send you love from above.

COVID 19 Remembered

Covid 19 seems to fizzle out

We need booster shots on the spot

It's one time phase is phasing out

Will the pandemic vaccine ever end?

No my dear, those who do not vaccine

Cause unwanted concern

When will we all ever learn

Vaccinations are very spotty

Some folks refuse to take it

With lack of complete cooperation

Our lives are at risk throughout the nation.

Beach Books by Polly Guerin

My books, my books in a cozy nest

Quietly they take their rest

Friends they are without demand

My need to escape they understand

To foreign lands I travel wide

Words go along for the ride

I read on to journey's end

Each book is my friend

I delve deep into the story line

Events encountered are divine

Entertained I turn each page

Journeys lead me in every stage

Enthused I finally put it down

Reflect upon it without a sound

Writ by an author, it got in print

Enthralled readers, made a mint.
