Adieu to July 2020
July, the Crown of Summer with pomp arrived
Sent unrelenting heat. Yet, we did survive
The month turned into a hot plate griddle
And the days just lay there and sizzled
A deluge of rain and thunder lightening
Sent drenching flooding, rather frightening
Then July's golden complexion cast a shine
On languid halcyon days in the summertime
The month brought relief and cooling showers
Watermelon, strawberries and gilly flowers
The Declaration of Independence read aloud
Celebrated July 4th, and we were very proud
Let us remember those who served in the past
Their sacrifice, not forgotten, their memory last
While fireworks burst before us in magical design
A virtual showcase on Youtube was all l could find
Then the New Moon swept over the clear, cool sky
With a message for zodiacs, sending a positive reply
Sultry days lingered and dewy nights and so it seems
Gives us pause to linger and ponder, sort our dreams
And sleep the sleep of dreams we wish come true
Live in the sunshine swim far away and renew
Drink in the wild sea air and lose yourself
Leave worries behind, store them on a shelf
With July at the top of the livelong year
Gather sweet memories, so close, so dear
For there will be eternal summer in August
